The first Friday in March, the Sinfonietta spends the day touring the island performing five interactive and engaging 30-minute concerts for our public and private school students.  As our local public school district does not have a strings program, this is often the first chance the children have to get up close and personal with stringed instruments.  The concerts are always a hit, and everyone's favorite part is when children in the audience or the school principals get to come up and try their hand at conducting!  In the last few years, we have been able to perform for Blakely Elementary, Carden Country School, Hyla Middle School, Madrona School, Montessori Country School, Odyssey Multi-Age Program, Ordway Elementary, Sakai Intermediate, St. Cecilia Catholic School, The Island School, Wilkes Elementary, and Silverwood School.   Please contact us at [email protected] if you'd like us to visit your school for the next Schools Outreach Concert tour!

The Bainbridge Island Youth Orchestra, founded in 2001, is a training program for young musicians seeking an orchestral ensemble experience.  It has evolved into a three-tier orchestra program providing music education for all levels, from the emerging reader to the advanced musician.  BIYO's goal is to train the student musician in the craft of orchestra playing while instilling a deep love for music and fostering development of a well-rounded individual.
