The first Friday in March, the Philharmonia spends the day touring the island performing for our public and private school students, promoting the power of music making and ensemble playing. As our local public school district does not have a strings program, this is often the first chance the children have to get up close and personal with stringed instruments. The concerts are always a hit, and everyone's favorite part is when students in the audience or the school principals get to come up and try their hand at conducting or playing an instrument. In the last few years, we have been able to perform for Blakely Elementary, Carden Country School, Hyla Middle School, Madrona School, Montessori Country School, Odyssey Multi-Age Program, Ordway Elementary, Sakai Intermediate, St. Cecilia Catholic School, The Island School, Wilkes Elementary, and Silverwood School. Please contact us at [email protected] if you'd like us to visit your school for the next Schools Outreach Concert tour!
