Over the years, several members of the senior orchestra have volunteered as mentors in the Kids In Concert (KIC) program based in Suquamish, WA.  In this capacity, they have earned community service hours and great experience while teaching young musicians to play stringed instruments and their ensemble music.  The proof is in the continued desire to work with KIC as every year mentors return and commit their time to the organization.  The BIYO is able to provide a next step for young KIC musicians ready to join an orchestra ensemble and has welcomed KIC musicians in the annual BIYO String Festival and as members of BIYO ensembles.  In this way, the relationship has been beneficial and meaningful to both organizations.

The KIC/BIYO relationship is about working together to provide a musical education and community for area young musicians of all abilities and means.  BIYO looks forward to continuing the fun for many years to come!
