​Music and interviews from the Debut, Sinfonietta, and Senior Orchestras of the Bainbridge Island Youth Orchestra, led by Justine Jeanotte, Debut Conductor, and Tigran Arakelyan, Music Director. Also featuring guest soloist Mikhail Shmidt, Seattle Symphony first violinist. Recorded October 31, 2020.

Debut begins the concert with "At the Grasshopper Ball" (1:36, Richard Meyer/1994 Neil A. Kjos Music), "Goblin Walk" (5:12, Deborah Baker Monday/1999 Neil A Kjos Music) and "Soda Creek Hoedown" (6:31, Frank J. Halferty/Kendor Music).

Sinfonietta begins their performance with "Italian Folk Festival" (11:46, Arr. Jack Bullock/2011 Alfred Music) followed by "A Whole Lot of Symphony Themes" (18:04, Arr. Douglas E. Wagner/2011 Alfred Music).

​The Senior orchestra starts by performing Antonio Vivaldi's Spring from the Four Seasons under the direction of guest soloist Mikhail Shmidt (22:46). This is followed by Overture to Candide by Leonard Bernstein (34:12), and Suite for Strings by Leoš Janáček (40:12).

The Bainbridge Island Youth Orchestra, founded in 2001, is a training program for young string musicians seeking an orchestral ensemble experience.  It has evolved into a three-tier orchestra program providing music education for all levels, from the emerging reader to the advanced musician.  BIYO's goal is to train the student musician in the craft of orchestra playing while instilling a deep love for music and fostering development of a well-rounded individual.
